1952

A Small Beginning

Harper Community Bible Church was founded by a small group of families in the Harper area of South Kitsap, gathering in living rooms with a shared conviction that this community needed a Bible-centered church home.

1955

A Place to Call Home

The first permanent building was constructed on Sedgwick Road, giving the growing congregation a dedicated space for worship, fellowship, and community outreach.

1968

Investing in the Next Generation

Youth ministry and Sunday School programs were added, creating intentional spaces for children and teenagers to learn, grow, and build lasting friendships rooted in faith.

1975

A New Name, Same Mission

The church name was simplified to Harper Church, reflecting the congregation's deep roots in the Harper community while keeping its Christ-centered mission unchanged.

1982

Growing to Serve

A major renovation and expansion project added a fellowship hall, creating room for community events, potlucks, and the relational ministry that has always been at the heart of Harper Church.

1990

Life Beyond Sundays

The first small groups ministry was launched, giving people the opportunity to study Scripture, build authentic community, and support one another through life's ups and downs.

1998

For the Kids

Children's ministry received a major expansion with dedicated facilities designed to be safe, fun, and Bible-centered, serving families throughout the South Kitsap area.

2005

Two Services, One Church

A second Sunday service was added at 10:30 AM to accommodate the church's steady growth, ensuring everyone could find a time that worked for their family.

2010

Caring for the Community

The South Kitsap Lay Counseling ministry was launched, providing free, faith-based counseling support to individuals and families throughout the region.

2015

Meeting People Where They Hurt

Grief Share and Safe Haven ministries were added, extending the church's commitment to walking alongside people through life's most difficult seasons with compassion and hope.

2020

Adapting with Faith

When the world changed overnight, Harper Church pivoted to online services and launched sermon content on YouTube, ensuring the congregation stayed connected and spiritually fed.

2024

VBS Returns

The Vacation Bible School program was relaunched, bringing energy and excitement to summers at Harper Church and welcoming dozens of kids from across the community.

2026

A New Chapter

Harper Church modernized its digital presence with a redesigned website and enhanced online tools, making it easier than ever for people to connect, engage, and find their place in the family.
